Dear Name, I Love You.
"Megha, are you mad? Why do you always keep on scribbling your name everywhere? No one's going to steal your things if you don't write your name on it."
I'm used to hear these words now. But I'm helpless. I love my name. Everyone does. But I am one of those people who are profoundly obsessed with their names.
What's wrong in it? Everyone breathing on this earth has an obsession, right? So do I. I love writing my name in innumerable ways and styles and colours. You can find my name written on the last page of every notebook. Sometimes, on each of them. Depends. If I'm solving mathematical problems, you can find a lot more on my notebook. Maybe doraemon with his doracakes or a scenery or sketch of the person sitting right in front of me. Yeah, it happens. It's not my fault. It's not intentionally or knowingly that I do this. It's kind of a reflex action. My obsession is not only confined up to my notebooks and books but it's a lot more. You can easily find my name on my cupboards, on my novels (both read and unread except "The Fault In Our Stars") , on the walls of my room, on the palms of my hand, on my friends' notebooks (I apologize again for that. I can't help it. You know, I love my name. ) and there are more.
I am also fond of my name being called in different ways by different people.
My family members don't usually address me with my name but when they do, it sounds perfect as if they should have been given the sole right to utter it. Though it feels different and weird at times, it is acceptable. I hope you know the feeling when your mother or father takes your official name in front of others. Initially, it appears as if they're talking about someone else. And moments later, it dawns on you that that wonderful name belongs to you.
Such is the case with my friends. They call me with uncountable names ranging from Maggi ( Oh! Maggi ) to Omega but those rare days, on which they call me with my official name, are a blessing. My heart wishes to hug them that moment itself. Like, Wow! You've taken my original name right now? Thank you so much.
Then, there are my teachers. You can understand the feeling when you're in the good books of your teachers and they take your name often. I love it.
It's amazing how the same name can sound different when taken by different persons.
Some can make it sound special while others can make it sound rather dull.
My family, friends and teachers are special. Whatever they address me as, they'll always be the best. My name sounds the best when it comes from them. But a part of my love also goes to those who take my full name while conversing with me.
I love my full name. I love writing my full name, reading my full name, hearing my full name. Maybe because it sounds a bit professional or rare or different. Let the reason be unknown. True love is reasonless and I truly love my name.
Dear name, I'm sorry for I hated you in my childhood days because at that time I had fantasy for the names of actresses but now I understood your worthiness. I'm sorry for my people distort you sometimes but their intention is never wrong. They love me. They love you. I'm sorry if I ever did anything which hurt you. But trust me, I love you with all my heart. I'll never make you faint or stained.
You all may have seen such type of people around you who are completely obsessed with their names. You often find them writing their names everywhere. Maybe you're also one of those. See, it's not insane. There's nothing wrong in being crazy about our own name. After all it's the only thing which wholly belongs to us. Then, why not feel proud of it?
If you love it and feel proud of it, others will automatically start doing the same.
Whatever your name maybe, feel special about it. Let others make fun of it, misshapen it or whatever. You should know how to defend and protect your name.
Take pride while uttering it. Speak your full name to yourself sometimes. Start loving it right now.
Every name is special. Try not to make fun of anyone's name. It hurts. Love and adore your name like mad. If you find any such mad person, share this with him/ her. :)
There's a lot in a name. . .
This article may appear vaguely important to some. But to me, it is important.
